Perhaps these terracotta figures were images of travelers on the Silk Road. They are not Chinese. Their robes are unusual and their hats are even more unusual. One wears a pig’s snout on his head. They seem to have curly facial hair. These terracotta figures were originally covered with a pigment, and they were mounted on a structure of some sort.
