Tiger hats were worn by small boys on special occasions. By wearing them a boy might acquire the good qualities of a tiger such as strength and courage. This orange silk tiger hat is lined in a dark blue silk and has bright blue embroidered ear flaps. Four paws, floppy ears, fangs and whiskers give added character to the hat. We believe that this hat was created around 1900.
