Our lidded jar was made during the last half of the 19th century. These jars were often used in apothecary shops to hold herbs. They found many other additional uses around the home. This jar, which is painted in an under glaze cobalt blue is 8.5” high. We have a number of similar lidded jars. Some have the “double happiness” character on them.
