This
red lacquer jewelry box has a beautifully carved front panel with
a working lock and key. When unlocked, the front panel lifts off
to reveal 4 interior drawers. As in all Chinese jewelry boxes,
the drawers are unlined. Jewelry was kept in individual silk pouches.
The box was made in Jiang Xi province in about 1870 and has been
restored. It measures 8.6” wide x 12” high x 12”
deep. |
